Ace Comic Con invaded Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona this past weekend. Fans were able to meet and interact with guests like Chris Evans, Tom Holland and Sebastian Stan, all of which are best known for their roles in Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wrestling superstars like Hulk Hogan and Sting were also on hand. If that weren’t enough, Ace also brought in a ton of iconic comic book creators like Stan Lee, John Romita Jr and Todd McFarlane. This top tier guest list is what sets Ace apart from other conventions.
Attendees were able to purchase different packages for autographs and photo ops with the celebrity guests. We met fans from across the United States and world who came to town just for these once in a lifetime opportunities.
Glendale was Ace’s second event ever and I was very impressed by their queue system for the celebrity interactions. They had a large portion of the arena floor dedicated to the lines for the various experiences. It was very organized and seemed to move everyone along fairly quickly.
If you came to Ace Comic Con to meet any of the comic book legends, you were in luck. All of the big name guests were very accessible. The lines at their tables were reasonable and we didn’t have to wait more than 5 minutes to meet anyone. Access like this is unheard of at the larger cons like SDCC. You would have to camp out or win a lottery to meet someone like John Romita Jr there.
To do this con right, you’ll want to spend the extra few dollars for a VIP badge. The VIP badge gets you into the arena more quickly and offers better seating access to the most popular panels. If you opt for the regular general admission ticket, expect to be sitting up high in the upper deck.
Of course if you aren’t interested in being up close for any of the panels, Ace does play everything from the main stage on the arena’s jumbo tron and the various screens throughout the concourse. Even better, they do a Facebook live broadcast so everyone in the world can participate in the fun. This is pretty huge as Ace is the first comic con to offer this.
Overall, we had a great time at Ace Comic Con. If you’d like to see more of our coverage, head over to our YouTube page at STSGuys.online for videos from the show floor. We recorded a podcast recapping our experience too. That can be found on YouTube, SoundCloud and iTunes. Don’t forget to check out our Instagram for more pics from the entire weekend.
